# App Open Ads

App Open Ads help you monetize your app's loading screens. They appear when a user opens your app or navigates back to it from the background. General recommendations on how to improve the quality of ad units are given in [Improving resource quality](https://ads.yandex.com/helpcenter/en/monetization/quality/upgrade.md). Below are some practical tips to help you attract more valuable traffic with app open ads.

## Placement {#placement}

- Follow the general [recommendations on implementing app open ads](https://ads.yandex.com/helpcenter/en/monetization/ad-unit/app-open-ads.md#recommendations).
- Don't show your ads too often (for example, avoid impressions at the first and subsequent two or three app opens).

## Controls {#controls}

- Don't use custom buttons or ad unit controls, stick to the standard kit.

- Don't close ads automatically — leave it to the user.
