Why do I have to host an app-ads.txt file?

The Yandex Advertising Network displays ads from direct Yandex advertisers (Yandex Direct) as well as other DSP networks. That way, more advertisers compete to serve ads in your app, and ads are selected for users from different countries and regions. Your monetization revenue gets a boost in the process.

Some DSP networks use the app-ads.txt file to see which ad networks are authorized to sell the inventory from a site or app, and they don't buy ad impressions if it's not there.

No. The list of authorized sellers is not required. If you don't have it, however, you might see your app's profitability drop. Where do I place the app-ads.txt file?

Add the file to the root directory of the developer site. The root directory is the folder following the top-level domain (example.com/app-ads.txt, for example). If the file is published correctly, you can see its contents by adding /app-ads.txt to the site address in the browser.

Make sure the app stores have the relevant site listed. Advertising platforms will use it to search for and verify the app-ads.txt file.

What do I do if an app-ads.txt file was already published by another ad network (for example, Google AdMob (ex. AdMob) or IronSource)?

The existing app-ads.txt file contains your IDs used for ad selection via other ad networks.

To select ads from the Yandex Advertising Network, add your ID. Go to Settings → General in the Yandex Advertising Network interface and click app-ads.txt. A file with the lines you need will be downloaded.

Warning

The new lines should be added to the file rather than overwriting it.
